WBJJF reserves the right to combine and/or separate divisions pending competitor turnout.

Female youth competitors 17 years and under are bracketed with male competitors. You can request that your child or student only compete with other female competitors but there is no guarantee that it will be possible. If you elect to make this request then you would do so in the notes section during the registration process.
Bracket Formats

All ages & Skill levels: 2 competitor bracket is best out of three. 3 competitor bracket is round robin. 4 – 6 competitors is double elimination and 7 competitors & up is single elimination.
Division Match Times

Overtime Rules
-
No-Gi Only. In the case of a tie with points and advantages a sudden death overtime round will be set. One minute for youth/teen divisions and 2 minutes for adults. The winner will be decided by the first competitor to be awarded a point and not an advantage. If after the one minute neither competitor has scored then the winner is decided by the referee.

There is no sudden death overtime round for Gi divisions. In the case of a tie with points and advantages the winner is decided by the referee.
Youth Age Divisions

Youth Skill Level

No-Gi skill level is determined by the length of time a competitor has been training.

Athletes who have extensive training in any grappling arts like Wrestling and Judo should not participate in any beginner divisions and should be in intermediate or advanced divisions.

In the Gi divisions competitors compete in their current belt rank.

All male and female youth competitors up to 17 years of age are combined in their respective divisions.

Adult NO-GI Skill Levels

No-Gi skill level is determined by the length of time a competitor has been training. Athletes who have extensive training in any grappling arts like Wrestling and Judo or have fought MMA professionally, can not participate in any beginner divisions and should be in intermediate or advanced divisions.

In the Gi divisions competitors compete in their current belt rank.

Adult green belt will be placed in the blue belt division.
